Moved
Moved from Macrocephalus.

Macrocephalus
This is a Macrocephalus sp. which is separated from the other Nearctic macrocephaline genus Lophoscutus by the large pale scutellar spot. The species prehensilis belongs in Lophoscutus which removes it from consideration here.

Moved to guide
I wrote a guide for Macrocephalus and placed your photos there. There is not a lot of information on this genus. This is likely Macrocephalus prehensilis = Lophoscutus prehensilis, size given as 5-6 mm, and ranges west to Texas (1). It is hard to say--there are very few photos of this genus around--I am just looking at the description and the stated range. Macrocephalus cimicoides is similar, but larger, 9-11 mm, with stronger ridges on pronotum, also found in Texas, according to Slater (1)

Talented!
Valerie, I just popped over to your "larvalbug" website. You are very talented! Your artwork is lovely. I do wish I could see other parts of the site, but the pages are not to be found:-( Keep up the great work!

Thank you, Eric
For the encouraging comments. I was afraid this would happen - our .com site has exceeded bandwidth allowance for the month. I'll have to move pages to other hosts to prevent this problem in the future. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience of the bad links.

Wow! Great find!
