Larva of sorts - Corydalus cornutus

Larva of sorts - Corydalus cornutus
Perry County, Pennsylvania, USA
June 27, 2011
Size: 2 inches
Found this large creature under a large rock on the shore of the river. It was on dry land but it can't walk or move very well so I don't know if it is supposed to be aquatic. Is there any way to keep it alive? I had to bring it back for photographing

Thanks

id leave it right where itis
in the mud i assume from where it is from..and keep damp with bottled water, not tap. maybe lay a piece of damp paper towel on it?

Corydalid pupa I expect

I can't tell you how to keep it alive, unfortunately. My only suggestion would be to attempt to duplicate as closely as possible the environment in which it was found.

its a pupa...
so it should not be moving around or need fed, correct?

Thanks for your help!

It might move around a bit...
Some insects have active pupae. But it shouldn't need any care or feeding. Good luck!

right!
.and...do not feed to yellowjackets or hornets lol
