What happened to Arctiidae?
Hi Maury,
I've noticed that periodically groupings of posts get moved around. Not too long ago, almost everything in Misumenops got moved to Mecaphesa. In the case of tiger moths, they seem to have been moved from family Arctiidae to family Erebidae, and family Arctiidae seems to have been deleted. Basically, a lot of moths appear to have been shuffled around, specifically in superfamily Noctuoidea - and I'm sure in other places I haven't discovered yet. I've set up my own version of a database and try to keep everything in its proper place, but finding, well after the fact, that everything's been moved around makes it difficult to keep my records accurate. (I also have a website for bugs/insects in Oregon, and it also reflects the BG taxonomic structure, but finding these changes now leaves my information in a bit of a mess - not unrecoverable, but currently unreliable.) Is there anywhere in BG where changes like this are listed, so those of us who strive to keep accurate records and provide accurate data can be made aware of changes?

Arctiidae
Phil, as you noticed, Arctiids were moved (absorbed) to reflect the 2010 revision of Noctuoidea > Lafontaine JD, Schmidt BC (2010) Annotated check list of the Noctuoidea (Insecta, Lepidoptera) of North America North of Mexico.

It is frustrating for record keeping but the changes were needed. Things should remain stable for some time to come. The last major moth overhaul was 1983!

Thanks for the pointers.
I'll make it a habit of patrolling the forums.
