Ow! - Culiseta incidens - Female
Alameda County, California, USA
July 1, 2011
Found on my arm soon after 4:00 p.m., rather early in the day for a mosquito to be biting (sunset was due at 8:35). This photo shows her after about 1 minute of feeding. The ventral half of her abdomen started out pale and slightly convex; it is now more blood-colored and visibly distended.
