Ammophila w/prey - Ammophila pictipennis - female

Ammophila w/prey - Ammophila pictipennis - Female
Myrtle Beach, Horry County, South Carolina, USA
May 25, 2006
This guy/gal was dragging a big caterpillar across the ground for a good distance... I never did find out where it was going... I assume its burrow. These must go long distances with their prey! I know this is an Ammophila wasp but not the species... does the prey type help or do they all prey on cats?
