Green Moth - Arctonotus lucidus
My sister found a moth like this one in Eagle Point Oregon approx. one year ago. The long hair make it look like it very velvet like.

This will be difficult to accept.
This is a Hawk Moth (Family: Sphingidae). Like no other Hawk Moth from NA but I have seen a similar-patterned species from Australia.
This one is Arctonotus lucidus and from what I can ascertain it is a rare species.

Moth ID
Thanks Tony. We had three of these moths on our window one morning. We looked in the book but the patterns didn't quite match. Maybe there are pattern varieties in the same species? We are better on birds, but are learning slowly about smaller wildlife. Melly Zeillemaker

The Sphingoidea fascicle
of MONA states "The species is somewhat variable in coloration." When the fascicle was published (1971) The United States National Museum had just 1 specimen from Idaho.
Moved to species page.
