Ephemeridae: Hexagenia? - Hexagenia limbata
Turtle River State Park, Grand Forks County, North Dakota, USA
July 5, 2011
Size: Body Length ~ 3.0 cm
Roger, this specimen may be an example of the imago of a Burrowing Mayfly. It seems not to be another example of our local Pentagenia, I think. I'm hoping that this image provides enough information to determine the species. Thanks for looking! ;-)

Hexagenia
Hi Carl-

Yes, a very nice photo of a Hexagenia limbata female imago.

Thanks, Roger!
I found four of these large mayflies, all within a forearm's length of one another, clinging to the vertical brick facade of one of the two lighted restroom facilities at the Turtle River State Park. They were obviously attracted by the lights illuminaing the structure.
