here. The beak is shorter on assassins.

That's interesting b/c I've never seen a beak on any of the leaf-footed bug photos that I've taken. Thanks. :)

 
They're usually tucked in when not in use
so you either have to get the rare underside shot (like yours) or catch them in action (see below- different species with an even longer mouthpart).

 
Oh, I see...
Thank you for sharing that bit of information. I didn't know that. I'll be sure to look for that in the next go-round of leaf-footed bug photos I take. ;)
