Bumble Bee - Bombus ternarius

Bumble Bee - Bombus ternarius
Adams, Franklin County, Massachusetts, USA
May 28, 2006
This was towards the large size for bumble bees. Found nectaring near the top of a mountain.

Golden Bumble Bee
I saw this one in a book in which it was called a Golden Bumble Bee.
When I was a kid I would see how many I could catch in a jar one after the other. Their sting is vicious, believe me. There used to be many here on Long Island but have been disappearing in numbers.
