Reddish-brown Stag Beetle - Lucanus capreolus - Female

Showing the light brown femora, which help distinguish this species from the females (and minor males?) of Lucanus elaphus. This seems to be a defensive posture--I have also seen this sort of "jaws-to-the-air" behavior in female Lucanus elaphus.
