tidying up - Neoclytus acuminatus
Richland, Benton County, Washington, USA
May 30, 2006
Size: about 20mm
While poking around the bushes outside my apartment with my camara, I startled this longhorn beetle, and it flew onto a nearby dogwood tree, where it began to groom itself. It became so preoccupied with its task that I could get close enough for a semi-decent shot.

Neoclytus acuminatus
Red-Headed Ash Borer. Nice addition to our BugGuide map (click on "Data" tab to see it). The farthest west photo we had thus far was Utah.
