I have never seen an Elater in Pennsylvania, but it is all black, so I don't know what else it could be.

This was a surprise to me too
I thought they lived only close to the shore. This was found in the evening, not even at lights. At first I thought it was a common Melanopus, but I looked closer and I thought it was an Elater.
