Harmonia axyridis
it was after all. The curving rounded ridges near the elytra apex confounded me, and it is an unusual color form for our area.

I think
it's in the collection, but is uncommon. It only takes 5 minutes to track it down, but that 5 minutes won't be in the schedule for awhile.
