Cacama valvata
? Exceedingly abundant right at the moment. Apparently the adults are feeding on mesquite (seen here) and Acacia, mostly.

The red blobs...
Are mites of some kind. This one had a half-dozen, but I didn't see any mites on the others.

Very Interesting
This one seems to be feeding.
I know that some cicadas, even Tibicens can be infected by fungal spores but I have never seen mites on one before. Speaking of infestations, this one
here
seems to be covered in something.
