Manhattan Beetle - Nacerdes melanura

Manhattan Beetle - Nacerdes melanura
New York City, New York County, New York, USA
May 29, 2006
Size: 1/2 inch

Ah-ha!
Thank you for posting these nice images after contacting me through AllExperts:-) This is indeed one of the suspects that was on my list: the "wharf borer," Nacerdes melanura, in the beetle family Oedemeridae. May be emerging from old timbers in your residence. Please consult various .edu websites for factual information and potential control measures (if any are needed). Thanks for sharing the fine images!

THANKS!
Precisely the information I needed. We're waiting on some major renovations on our building for "severe structural water damage" and this makes complete sense. I will be contacting our landlord. Thank you thank you thank you for such a great service and quick help.
All the best.

You're welcome!
I'll move these images to the guide - thanks for your contribution!

Here's the guide page
Nacerdes melanura, with some information and links to get you started. These images will be a good addition to our guide - we don't have many yet.
