Polyphemus Moth - Antheraea polyphemus - Male
Hwy 55 and Sedwick, Durham County, North Carolina, USA

Found on a sidewalk underneath a light, hindwing eyespots hidden. Large antennae, thin abdomen, indicate this is a male. This is a very fresh individual, with very bright coloration. Prodded very gently by the photographer, the hindwing eyespots are revealed.
