A nice photo
but if the photographer is not prepared to give a location and date I think it does not deserve an ID and should be frassed.

NE Ohio
The photographer tells me this photo was taken around mid May in northeast Ohio. According to my resources, Northern Crescents are pretty scarce there, but this sure looks more like a Northern than a Pearl.

Pearl Crescent
To me the HW does look like a Northern, but the early date and small white crescents near the border of the FW indicate Pearl. Northerns fly from early June to August in the Great Lakes Region, Pearls from mid-April onwards.

Where's the challenge in that? ;-)
Sure looks like a Northern Crescent to me, but that whole complex is only slightly less baffling than the Azures.
