Lordotus planus - female

Lordotus planus - Female
Ventura County, California, USA
May 28, 2006
Size: ~8mm
Wagon Road Canyon area, near Lockwood Valley Road.

The 'gestalt' of this little beefly, also the wing venation, reminded me of Lordotus. Neal Evenhuis (Bishop Museum, Honlulu, HI) kindly provided the species ID: Lordotus planus Osten Sacken.
The type locality for this species is California; Holotype is at the Museum of Comparative Zoology, MA.
Reference: World Catalog of Bee Flies by Evenhuis & Greathead ((1)), or as PDF doc. here: 2).
