Anza Borrego Desert, San Diego County, California, USA
July 7, 2007
Size: 53 mm
After spending quite some time with the Derobrachus revision (Revisão do gênero Derobrachus Audinet-Serville, 1832 (Coleoptera, Cerambycidae, Prioninae) A. Santos-Silva. 2007. Arquivos de Zoologia 38(1): 1-94.), I've come to the conclusion that this beetle best fits the description of Derobrachus geminatus (see additional close-ups of various structures). The close-set quality of the eyes in comparison to D. hovorei supports this, and the more rounded metatarsomeres and longer groove in the third antennomere separate it from D. leechi.

det. A. Santos-Silva 2013 (from these photos)

This beetle came to a black light in a mesquite-dominated habitat.
