July 1, 2001
The date i have for this right now is July 2001. The machine insists on adding a 1 to the date -- this is not correct.

???same as rhinoceros????
I looked at some other pictures and there was a picture where the beetle looked just like this picture but the name of it was: Rhinoceros Beetle-Dynastes Tityus. are they the same type of beetle. If not how do I know which type of beetle I have here that looks like both of these pictures? email me at chiva_dustin@lycos.com

I think I have one.
I'm pretty sure I have this kind of beetle. I live near Galveston Texas about an hour away from the Gulf. The beetle I just found in my driveway looks exactly like your picture. My 8 year old son wants to keep it. I know nothing about this beetle and I'm not even sure if it is this type of beetle. But if it is could someone email me with info on it. chiva_dustin@lycos.com What do they eat, how should I fix it's home. I'm pretty sure it's a male, some of the other sites I've been on said if it has a horn on top then most likely it is a male. Also will this beetle bit or pinch my son if he tries to hold it. This beetle is huge and it scares me just a little bit because I don't know anything about it. Info about this type of beetle would be greatly appreciated. Thank You

I too found one of these magnificent creatures. Sadly, he was dieing when I picked him up. He is now in a display case in my wunderkammer. He is the only example of this beetle that I have ever found.
