red white and black unknown bug - Microtomus purcis

Size: roughly 1 1/2 inches
This bug was found on a concrete sidewalk, and easily caught my eye as I was heading toward my car. It was in FortOglethorpe, Georgia which is just south of the Tennesse, Georgia state line. I have no idea what it is!
