Author is Fabricius, 1805.
Species name posticata is apparently an adjectival form of posticus, meaning posterior--from Latin post after, and aceus quality (1).

eyes hairy (pilose)
abdomen black with variable amount of yellow pile, usually covering first and part of second segment (tergites), sometimes third abdominal segment covered in yellow as well
