dreamy duskywing? - Erynnis - Female
Swanzey , Cheshire County, New Hampshire, USA
June 1, 2011
Hazy, hot, humid (80's), sunny. Gravel road running through old, small gravel pit that is being reclaimed by gray birch, aspen (aka poplar), white pine, sweet fern, & smooth sumac. Aliens like common buckthorn and Russian olive are also there. The one wildflower in bloom was hawkweed being visited by mining bees and spittle bugs. The road is near a cattail marsh with speckled alder and maleberry the predominant shrubs. The galls and spittle bugs were present on the speckled alder. Nearby is a forest of red and white oaks, red maple, red and white pine, beech, hemlock.
Another bug in the road was a Gomphus dragonfly, I don't know what species.
