Found in open meadow. I guess it's a fly, with the bulbous eyes. The antennae don't look right for a fly. Hemiptera, perhaps?

A sawfly of the family Tenthredinidae. A number have this similar coloration,

Looks like the hibiscus sawflies I had at my house:


 
Lots of Swamp Rose Mallow (hibiscus family) in the area.

Definitely a sawfly, probably family Tenthredinidae. Very difficult to ID these guys beyond that, but knowing the host plant helps.
