According to the Iowa Odonata Survey, Argia alberta has been previously reported from Iowa, although this observation would become the farthest east county report.

Argia alberta

The thoracic markings look pretty good for alberta, the abdominal markings are a bit off, but I agree that alberta is the best match. However, this is not the farthest east in Iowa for this species. I had the first specimen for Iowa in Black Hawk county back in 1972. This was, and still is, way east of the normal range for the species. I'm glad to see it has been found in between its normal range in western Iowa and my Black Hawk co. location.

Looks to be a female Argia

We were going to suggest A. plana, but don't know if that species can have a forked shoulder stripe. Let's wait to see what William suggests.
