Do you have any other photos
Looks like it might be a male? (though probably female), and seeing the end of the abdomen of one this nearly mature (even though still a nymph) might make the ID more certain. Anyway, this is a nearly mature nymph of something in genus
Melanoplus
. It is probably a 'Red-legged Grasshopper' -
Melanoplus femurrubrum
, but there are several species of long-winged
Melanoplus
in Fort Collins, and there is a chance it is another. How can I tell it's long-winged? - because the wing pads are quite large.
