Very Large spider

Very Large spider
Green Valley, Pima County, Arizona, USA
August 2, 2011
Size: Leg sprd approx 40-48mm
This spider was found dead at our front door- Size of leg spread is about the size of a Half Dollar. Quite a large body behind the head- only could see 2 eyes. Tan in color with large body sections. Quite a set of pinchers. He has 2 legs in front for helping to get food(not real legs with feet) I have more photos if anyone needs them. It is Monsoon season (very rainy for AZ) and 100 degree days.
Thanks!

This is a Solfugid
Thank you! I had not seen one of these before (lived here about 13 years now). I had not even seen any photos listed as common bugs in our area. Appreciate the help!

Not quite....
This is a Solfugid. They have common names such as Sun Spider, Camel Spider and some others (that don't come to mind!). They are related to scorpions, but are pretty much harmless. They may bite if harmed, but it's just a painful lesson to be nice to them.
