Long Jawed Orb Weaver (Leucage?) - Mecynogea lemniscata

Long Jawed Orb Weaver (Leucage?) - Mecynogea lemniscata
Nashville, Davidson County, Tennessee, USA
August 4, 2011
Size: Approx 12 mm.
I thought this was Leucage venusta, but when I see the picture, the pattern and coloration are different than I've seen in other specimens I've photographed. I'm sure there is a lot of variation, but the pattern on this individuals abdomen is very distinct. This is the ventral view of the spider.

tight webbing
made me think of Mangora, but that's not right. I don't recognize this ventral view right off... did you take a dorsal shot?

Edit - maybe it's a Basilica Orbweaver (Mecynogea lemniscata)?

Mecynogea very promising...
I'll try to get some other views of this today. There are six webs in the hedge and the web pattern is a distinctive checkerboard. Thanks!
