feeding on cup plant, Silphium perfoliatum. Batch rearing. Bug Guide gathering_2011
August 30, 2011: larvae heading into substrate
September 2, 2011: all but one larva in substrate
April 22, 2011: adults emerging. ID confirmed by A. Williams
April 27, 2011: I had combed through the substrate and found a wad of cocoons massed together. Thinking they were all empty I set it on the table. One of the cocoons was not empty and I found an adult flying in the lab. Set
Two moths dead in the rearing container: one adult fully emerged and the other didn't fully make it out of the substrate
