shiny golden bug - Platydracus maculosus

shiny golden bug - Platydracus maculosus
Barrie, Simcoe, Ontario, Canada
June 5, 2006
Size: appx 1 inch long
Found this bug this morning around 10am, sitting on a leaf floating in a dog dish, drinking and grooming itself. It does have wings, as seen in first pic, but kept them folded out of sight most of the time and made no effort to fly.
