Antlike longhorn - Cyrtophorus verrucosus Nashua, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire, USA June 6, 2006 Size: about 9 mm
While I was waiting for mamma bre*ntid to finish her egg hole, I noticed a large a*nt crawling up the tree trunk. Because of Tom Murray and a few others posting plenty of a*nt photos, I at least give them a second glance, and it is well that I did so with this one. Yanega says this longhorned beetle species is variable as to the amount of red on it. Among images of this species on bugguide, this one is at the low end of the red scale.
