Brown spotted moth - Hyalophora columbia -

Milo, Piscataquis County, Maine, USA
June 7, 2006
Size: 4 inches wide

Large moth with gorgeous markings seen on the pavement at a gas station. I relocated it temporarily on some greenery but it wasn't looking well. The wings had sustained some damage.

Hyalophora columbia (7768) Columbia Silkmoth

This moth is Hyalophora columbia. The "Columbia Silkmoth", not the "Brown spotted moth. Brown spotted moth doesn't even make sense. the spots are not brown, more like an ivory color.
