Asian Tiger Mosquito - Aedes albopictus - female

Asian Tiger Mosquito - Aedes albopictus - Female
Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, USA
June 8, 2006

yes, the infamous Aedes albopictus
the whide medial stripe on the scutum gives it away. also, most of the time the hind t5's of this mosquito are pale scaled but not always. nice picture man. these mosquitos were introduced by accident in the 80s (most probably in Texas) from Japan. the larvae were living in tire shipments.

Aedes albopictus
Thanks a lot. This is the most numerous mosquito in my yard.
