I'm gonna disagree...
I don't believe this is mutator (the pronotal tubercles aren't white, and the elytra aren't dark), and it's a bit out of range (the westward limit for mutator is right around Lake Superior). This has pretty much got to be either a form of clamator, or an atypical marmorator, since I don't think it's obtusus. Yes, it's odd, but at least marmorator and clamator are widespread and variable, while mutator has one of the most limited distributions of all NA species, and very little phenotypic variation. The proximity to balsam, and overall coloration make me slightly more inclined to think marmorator.

From Ian Swift: "weird specimen, but I think it's M. mutator"
Larry, this is our very first image ID'd as such --please keep an eye out for them and try to take & post more photos. thanks, =v=

Monochamus mutator
Thanks for the i.d.

It's the first of this species I've noticed in my backwoods " 'hood"
I'll be sure to keep an eye out for another.
