1/3; abt 16-17mm body length;? large hoverfly; the markings, espec facial, are unusual. Need Eric,J&J on this one.Thanks. see comments

Flower fly
This is the butt end of the flower fly, Spilomyia fusca. Easy to see how it is such a remarkable mimic of the bald-faced "hornet." Nice work on all three images, Vincent:-)
