Marbled-green Leuconycta - Hodges#9066 - Leuconycta diphteroides
Amherst, Hampshire County, Massachusetts, USA
August 20, 2011
Size: @1 1/2"
This caterpillar was on a fern in my yard. I've had Crocus Geometer adults here before and this, to me, looks like the image in David Wagner's book. Hard to tell from the guide here.
Any confirmation or correction would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

Moved from Marbled-green Leuconycta. This seems to fit better in diphteroides, so we'll move it there.

Yes, the new Wagner book will just be on Noctuids
We're hoping that will help us straighten out a lot of these questions.

Great.
It's on my wish list. :-)

Maybe Leuconycta lepidula

Thanks John and Jane.
Sure looks like that to me. Not in Wagner...that's my excuse anyway. Thanks.

Four pair of abdominal prolegs
too many for a Geometrid. This is a Noctuid.
