Can anyone ID? Thanks!

Moved
Moved from Epicallima.

An Introduced Species Which Has Been Called....
... 1046.99 - Large-spotted Epicallima Moth - Epicallima n. sp. at MPG, but which will have the name changed, at least tentatively, to Promalactis suzukiella. If this is the correct species it is called in New Zealand the Cotton Seedworm Moth and is considered an invasive pest species. Google searching turned up this tidbit for New Zealand pages that cannot be found, everything else appears to be in Japanese.

This moth was unknown to Dr. Ron Hodges two years ago when I sent him photos and we assumed then that it was an undescribed species. It is very common in my yard in Bowie, MD, and is also known at least from Oakton, VA and Ellicott City, MD and now further north in Pennsylvania. When I sent my photo to John Glaser (extensive MD moth collection) he found a matching but unidentified specimen among his Oecophoridae, taken at the Severn WMA in Anne Arundel County, MD. The VA and MD localities are all within about 35 miles of my yard. I think I have seen photos from beyond this small region but it will be a few months before I get them added to MPG plates.

Thanks!
Moved to genus page. Too bad I didn't collect it:-( Maybe I'll get one at my blacklight tonight.
