Very large, stripey-legged mosquito - Psorophora ciliata - female

Very large, stripey-legged mosquito - Psorophora ciliata - Female
Northfield, Franklin County, Massachusetts, USA
August 16, 2011
Size: 8-10 mm
A friend brought me this smooshed mosquito. She said it was one of the smaller ones. Difficult to get a proper measurement in this bent condition, but the distance from the top of the thorax to the tip of one of the legs is 17 mm.

Looks right to me--thanks!

Gallinipper?
It looks something like this monster mosquito I found up here a few years ago. Nice find Charley!
