Sawfly
Barkhamsted, Litchfield County, Connecticut, USA
This looks like some of the sawflies on the Guide. Any help on narrowing it down?

Ichneumonidae or Braconid
Sorry that is no sawfly... The best indication is that the wasp has a waist, while sawflies have none. It is a parasitic was of the families Braconidae or Ichneumonidae (I just think it is an ichneumonid, but without seeing the wing veneition, this is more a guess).
Cheers

Wasp
Thanks, Martin. Your observation on the waist was good to learn. Was looking for the familiar markings around eyes on Ichneumons but see none here. Dave P.

Ichneumon.
Indeed this is an ichneumon wasp.

Ichneumon
Thanks, Eric. Glad they aren't aggressive (or don't appear to be).

They're not
They're not agressive because they can't sting.
