Dusky Clubtail - Gomphus spicatus - male

Dusky Clubtail - Gomphus spicatus - Male
Campbellville, Halton, Ontario, Canada
June 10, 2006
Caught at the edge of a small reservoir. They seem so tame I can just walk slowly up and drop the net slowly over them. One was so calm I dropped the net on him and he didn't move until I stuck my hand under...

These shots were taken in the shade so the extreme shadow would not mess with view of the tail profile. Thus they look a diferent tint then the full shots of this individual.

Now nothing can beat Tony Thomas' close ups but here are the best shots I could get in the field today.
