Mydas sp. (Mydidae)
Antennae of these special flies are quite typical, although some rare Syrphid have fairly similar ones. But then, wing venation is different. They are indeed mimics, but of some Spider wasps rather than of Scolia dubia.

Giff beaton also has emailed me with an identification of this fly as Mydas clavata. And thanks to Richard for providing an ID. Much appreciated. Would appreciate an editor placing this in the right location.

Looks like we have this as clavatus -
located through the taxonomy tab for the genus. I will move them to the species page by tagging - you can do this too, by the way. The only time you need an editor to do it is if a species page has not yet been created.
