Hopper in Twilight Blue - Scaphytopius frontalis

Hopper in Twilight Blue - Scaphytopius frontalis
Near Ruraldale, Upshur County, West Virginia, USA
June 11, 2006
Size: 3.9 mm
First of these I've seen. Once again I went through every Cicadellidae image in BugGuide, and if this one is there I missed it. It didn't take too long to search because there weren't very many in this shade of twilight blue. There are even some white stars on the rear to go with the twilight.

Dorsal view available if that would help.

Scaphytopius frontalis
A very dark leafhopper with a strikingly pale face.

Ooops
Ooops, I did miss it. The one photo filed under Scaphytopius frontalis didn't look blue in the thumbnail. As always I guess color is not the best thing to pin an ID on.

When I searched on Scaphytopius frontalis I found three more images that I missed because they were in ID Request rather than filed under Cicadellidae. I'm moving these plus mine to S. frontalis now.

Thanks, Andy!
