Hanging Thief Robber Fly - Diogmites properans

Hanging Thief Robber Fly - Diogmites properans
Lakeland, Polk County, Florida, USA
May 30, 2006
Size: 23 mm
Based on Hershel Raney's comments about the center dorsal black line being divided and running the entire length of the thorax, I belive this specimen fits the description.

Moved to properans
Thanks Herschel, insect distribution is important to consider. Locating data to check habitat is tough sometimes. Initially ID was incorrect. My comments referred to missouriensis.

Diogmites
These are difficult. And unfortunately missouriensis does not likely occur in Florida. This is probably Diogmites properans.

Correction Noted
Thanks so much for the ID. These are tough to ID unless certain characteristics are pointed out such as your comments for missouriensis.
