Fly Names ?
whence cometh "blow" and "bottle" ? Thanks

Blow fly and bottle fly
Blow fly refers to an entire family of flies... the Calliphoridae family. The Green Bottle fly is the common name for a specific species... Lucilia sericata.

Fly names
OK & thanks, but, how did they come to have those names(common)?
I.E. Could, perhaps, the Blow flies have been, at some time, seen to
come into habitats by being blown there by wind?? Could, perhaps, the Green Bottle fly have first been seen in a green bottle? Or, maybe no one knows the common name etymology?

Here's Wikipedia def.: The name blow-fly comes from an older English term for meat that had eggs laid on it, which was said to be fly blown. Blow-flies are usually the first insect to come in contact with a dead animal.
