Dragonfly - Sympetrum corruptum - female

Dragonfly - Sympetrum corruptum - Female
Alameda County, California, USA
September 9, 2011
Size: 3.9 cm bl, 5.3 cm ws
Kept this perch for many minutes, noon, unfazed by several close approaches of camera from various angles. A rest stop during migration? Matches description of Variegated Meadowhawk, Sympetrum corruptum, in Manolis,(1) except that the lateral abdominal markings don't look like the "portholes" Manolis describes.
