ID for a tiny greenish bug? - Pseudatomoscelis seriatus
Claremont, Los Angeles County, California, USA
September 9, 2011
Size: Approx. 4 mm
The Croton setigerus (Dove Weed, Turkey Mullein) is currently blooming at the Claremont Colleges' Robert J. Bernard Biological Field Station, so I have been looking for interesting insects that might be visiting the flowers. On every plant I've looked at, I've seen tiny little insects that fly and seem to just disappear when they land. Today I watched them very carefully and saw that they were tiny pale grayish-green bugs that land on the leaves, where they are almost perfectly camouflaged. I have no idea what they are, and any information will be greatly appreciated!

Here's another individual:

Thanks!
Thanks for ID! I noticed in the Henry (1991) article linked to the info page that Croton is one of the preferred hosts for this species.

I'm not an expert, but...
Maybe Cotton Fleahopper?

Seems like a good guess to me!
I had been browsing the Mirids and also spotted this one. I agree with you that it certainly looks it, and our location is within the range. Let's see what an expert has to say.

Done!
I thought this was a Mirid, but I have been mistaken in the past. Thanks for the confirmation. I've moved these to family as you suggested.
