digging wasp - Ammophila - female

digging wasp - Ammophila - Female
San Juan National Forest, Montezuma County, Colorado, USA
June 12, 2006
Size: ~1"
I'm guessing this is a female. She would completely disappear into that little hole. Now (next day) it has a little piece of gravel or a mud clod partially blocking the hole. I was unable to watch her all day.
