Barney Farm, Hwy 103, 1 mi. NW Washington, St. Landry Parish, Louisiana, USA
April 22, 2006
Found 04/2006 as a grub in a stump that was still standing.

Will you rear it
?

Yes..
Already have. I found 8 grubs in the same tree trunk and they have all pupated and eclosed. So far, every time I have found these as grubs (both in FL and LA) they were found in rotten, upright hardwood and were all found close together. A few times I also found a single adult in the same cache.

Rotten wood scarab larvae
seem to be gregarious in my limited experience. They don't mind curling up right next to each other. I've never seen one try to bite another as ceram*bycid larvae usually do. Vide.
