no wings, 6 legs, approx. 1.5 inches long, found on concrete patio up against house, beyond is irrigated lawn, beyond that is dry natural ground, area gets 12 inches rainfall annual average.

Jerusalem Cricket...
A distant relative of crickets, but more closely related to creatures such as the Weta of New Zealand and Australia. Also called "Child of the Earth" "Potato Bug" or "Chaco". Their bite can be nasty if you bother them, but are otherwise mysterious and harmless creatures.
