Size: body ~1 inch
I was surprised when I zoomed up the tail end to see something is happening. Is it laying an egg? Or eliminating waste?

Katydid nymph
This one is a female as the females have the ovipositors. It is eliminating waste in this shot. I'm moving your shot to the general Katydid page. This one may eventually be ID'd to species by the shape and length of the ovipositor.
